Lion King Viral Marketing

The Lion King Marketing

Social Media Strategy

The Lion King will rely heavily on social media to promote the movie. One of the most consequential ways that people are encouraged to watch movies is through word of mouth or, more recently, word of mouse. This tends to happen because people, especially those who liked the movie, tend to exaggerate the overall quality if they liked it; this causes someone to believe the movie is better that it actually is, without having seen it, which usually ends up with them watching it. Although this does happen in reverse, If someone finds they disliked a movie, they tend to exaggerate their criticisms towards the movie which could directly repel people from seeing it.

As well as this Social Media websites, mainly facebook, track what you are interested In. This allows us to focus our marketing and make sure that it reaches people who interested in media similar to what we are promoting.

Social Media also allows us to cooperate with 'Internet Celebrities' to help promote our product. People look up and trust these people, children more so than adults, which makes them prime targets to promote our movies. They also have very wide audiences, followers or subscribers, of younger people that help to promote our movie in one other way.

Licensed Product Plans

Merchandise does not seem to play a very big role In the promotion, and subsequent success, of movies anymore. This means that Licensed Products become much less of a concern.

Due to the movie being about animals, plushies and toys become instantly marketable to the younger audiences. The movie also has unique imagery which can be used for shirts and other adult related clothing.

Brand Partnership Ideas

We will partner up with cinemas so that the teaser is shown before movies and they can put our poster up around the theater. Large TV shows, such as Game Of Thrones or The Walking Dead will also become partners; they will play the teaser in between breaks and will also directly promote it via Social Media.
