Power without responsibility 

In the book james curran and jean seaton argue that the press holds a lot of power, has has little responsibility. 

Do the press still have the same power? 

Or is there anyone else who might have more power now, but still no responsibility.

Who are news corp (and who were they)?

  • News Corp was an American Multinational Mass Media corporation that was headquartered in New York City. It quickly became the worlds Fourth-largest media group in 2014 in terms of revenue. 
  • They were a publicly traded company that was listed on the NASDAQ. 
  • Its notable holdings at the time of the split were news limited, news international, dow jones & company, HarperCollins and the Fox Entertainment Group.
Who is Rupert Murdoch and why are people scared of him? 

  • Rupert Mordoch was born in 11 march 1931.
  • His father had been a reporter, editor, and senior executive of the Herald and Weekly Times newspaper publishing company which covered all australian states except new south wales.
  • After his fathers death in 1952, Murdoch created his own company instead of joining the Herald so that he would have full controll. 
  • Murdoch is one of the richest men alive currently, with his net worth stacking up to around $13.1 billion
